- Due to the high heat value, wood charcoal is widely used as industrial and cooking fuel. Besides, it is more eco-friendly than wood because it causes less air pollution.
- It can be used as a decolorizing agent, deodorant, filtering agent, drying agent, etc. because of its strong adsorption and porosity.
- Charcoal is also popular in agriculture use. For example, you can place charcoal into the soil to retain its moisture content or to nourish the plants.

Wood tar is the liquid obtained through carbonization. It was used as a waterproof material for roofing shingles, ships, and boats. In addition, it is also a general disinfectant.

Pre-treatment of Wood Pyrolysis Plant
Based on our experimental results and customers’ feedback, we can get a higher charcoal output rate when the water content is less than 15% and the size is smaller than 20 mm. Taking coconut shell charcoal making machine for example, we can get 280 to 330 kg charcoal from 1000 kg coconut shell. Charcoal production will be different from the raw material, waste content, size, etc. So we will equip the dryer or crusher according to your needs.
Wood Pyrolysis Process
There is a conveyor belt to put the prepared wood chips into the biochar reactor. It takes about 1 hour to preheat the carbonization furnace and the raw materials. Actually, it is a great feature of Beston biomass pyrolysis plant, namely “One Fire Two Steps”. It will preheat the raw material first, which will improve the carbonization efficiency and charcoal quality. When the temperature inside reaches up to 300 ℃, the wood carbonization starts. The best carbonization temperature is from 380 to 450 ℃. The carbonized charcoal will be collected through the discharging system directly. There is a water cooling system to cool down the charcoal soon. The biomass pyrolysis process is continuous to save your time and fuel cost.
Meanwhile, the combustible gas will go through the condenser to get tar and vinegar. After this process, the combustible gas can be used to heat the furnace to save your fuel cost. In general, you can stop using fuel after 1.5 to 2 hours. The off-gas will be released into the atmosphere through the de-dusting system.
